A Lug Type Butterfly Valve is a versatile flow control valve fitted with threaded lugs on its body, allowing it to be bolted into a pipeline independently on either side, suitable for dead-end service where downstream piping can be removed without affecting the valve. Working of Lug Type Butterfly Valve

The valve’s disc rotates on a central stem within the lugged body to control flow. In the open position, the disc aligns with the pipe bore for minimal flow resistance. To close, the disc rotates a quarter-turn, sealing firmly against the replaceable seat. Because the body has threaded lugs instead of through-bolts, either side of the pipeline can be unbolted and removed for maintenance while the valve stays securely fixed to the other side — a key advantage over standard wafer-type designs.
