The gate valve’s wedge moves vertically within the body to control flow, guided by the spindle via hand wheel or motorized actuator. When open, the wedge lifts fully clear for unobstructed flow. To close, the spindle lowers the wedge until it seats firmly against the seat rings, blocking flow completely. The bonnet and gland packing seal the spindle against leakage, while flanged connections keep the valve securely bolted into the pipeline.
